REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPY

Through various techniques such as kneading, stroking, and stretching, our Registered Massage Therapists at Bayshore address a wide range of conditions, from muscle tension and sports injuries to chronic pain and stress-related discomfort.

About Massage Therapy

Registered massage therapy is a type of treatment that involves the manipulation of soft tissues of the body to alleviate pain, promote relaxation, and enhance overall wellness. Unlike conventional massages, RMT involves a range of therapeutic techniques to promote healing, making sure that clients receive safe, effective, and evidence-based care tailored to their individual needs.

RMT is a comprehensive approach to health that addresses not only the physical symptoms but also the underlying causes of discomfort, dysfunction, and imbalance in the body. Through skilled hands-on techniques, personalized treatment plans, and ongoing support and education, our registered massage therapists help clients achieve optimal health and vitality.

What to Expect Before/During/After Your Appointment

Before Your Appointment

Your First Appointment

In your first appointment, your RMT will do a comprehensive intake and ask you about your medical history related to the reason for your appointment. After better assessing you and your condition, your RMT will discuss your treatment plan and expected results. As needed, your treatment will also include a gradual plan to return to hobbies and physical activities.

Subsequent Appointments

Your RMT will continue to evaluate your condition and how you are feeling in every session. You should expect a portion of your visit to be used to review your treatment plan. Techniques utilized during your appointment will be chosen according to clinical findings and condition progress.

At the end of the session, you will be reminded to book your follow-up appointments when needed. You may do that with your clinician, call one of our locations, or book online.

After Your Appointment

Your RMT may follow up with you after your appointment if needed. If you have any questions or concerns about your appointment or your condition, call us.

You are always invited to provide feedback about the services and our clinics. We take feedback seriously, and we implement comprehensive quality improvement plans to better serve you every day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Some frequently asked questions regarding registered massage therapy services are

  • Do I Need a Referral for Physiotherapy or Massage Therapy?

However, due to individual policies, we are unable to provide an answer until you visit the clinic and speak with one of our administration staff, who would be pleased to help you. You may also phone your insurance plan holder and clarify if our clinic is able to offer direct billing or assignment of benefits.
  • Are Your Physical Therapists Registered?
Yes, all of our physiotherapists are licensed to practice with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. Our physiotherapists are regulated in Ontario under the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
  • What Should I Wear When I Come for My Appointments?
Loose-fitting garments such as shorts, tank tops, yoga pants, and t-shirts are recommended as we will be required to have access to the affected body parts during assessment and treatment.
